2nd.-That John Simpson has been in the Service of the Colony for Seven years, six months and 12 days, commencing from the 11th December 1862 and ending on the 22nd June, 1876.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your letter of the 25th March, informing me that the Secretary of State had granted me an "extension, with half Salary, of my leave of absence for three months from the 21st of June next, and to express my best thanks to his Lordship for so readily acceding to my request.
